After reading Greg Osby's Q+A thread on AAJ (forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread.php I checked out his website and saw that he has been very generous with providing "bootleg" .mp3's of his live performances. Thanks Greg! He mentioned this was something he started doing after working with Phil Lesh. This made me happy because I'm a deadhead as well as a music student majoring in jazz performance. I've enjoyed the music I've downloaded and of course plan to support him by buying his CDs and seeing him live when I get the chance.

Are there any other jazz musicians out there who are similarly generous with full-length free .mp3 downloads on their sites? If you find any please post links here!

i SERIOUSLY doubt there are many others (if any at all--please, someone prove me wrong!)

greg has done some interesting stuff. while i can't say all of this album is stellar, "3D Lifestyles" was a great idea. he basically did an "acid-jazz/hiphop-jazz" record with samples and all. his label (blue note at the time) wouldn't let him release it (sample clearance issues) so he brought in musicians to PLAY the sampled bits and reconstructed it. most of the mcs aren't that great, but there's a tune called "raise" w/CL smooth that's excellent. you might also check out "mantalk" a single he did and had remixed earlier by dj smash.

i'll check out the link to see what he has to say.
