I have really been enjoying Andrew Hill's "passing ships", expecially track 4. I was just wondering if anybody had any comments on this album. I generally don't like listening to anything more than a quartet but I like these arangements and the quirky songwriting. As I am not really part of any jazz "scene", I would be interested in advice on any albums that would be along the same lines.

    I don't know "passing ships" but I do know that Andrew Hill is one of the baddest of bad, and he always has caught my ear. I love "Black Fire" and of course his comeback record "Dusk" ... my favorite #1 track is called "Illusion" w/ Kermit Moore conducting a string orchestra, behind Andrew's group...hot...
